There is a kind of tiredness that only open space can fix. Clarens sits in the foothills of the Maluti Mountains, and in autumn the light here does something to you; the veld, the wide sky, the colour coming off the sandstone and the trees. You remember, without anyone telling you, what quiet feels like. Walk down Main Street and find Tobias Art. The shop is open, and the kettle is usually on. Nobody is going to rush you. That is rather the point. Something on these walls will follow you home. More importantly, something about Clarens will stay with you long after you leave, and that is the whole reason to make the drive.

Some paintings get printed onto fabric and made into cushions. The result is not homeware inspired by art, it is art you can put on a sofa. Same palette and pigments, just in a different form. The t-shirt range takes a different approach. It's quirky, cheeky quotes that wear well and travel far. If you see a painting on the wall that isn't in the cushion range yet, ask about it. Most can be made to order.
